Genc Hayat Foundation was founded in 2008 in İstanbul, to support youth of ages 11-18 who live through intense spiritual and physical change in their processes of preparing for life. The foundation, which keeps an anthropocentric approach without discrimination, coordinates extensive operations by cooperating with children, families, agents of agricultural work, teachers and local administrations in order to raise awareness regarding the prevention of child labour. Genc Hayat Foundation also puts into application projects, trainings and researches towards prevention of child labour; as well as providing solutions for youth who can not work or receive education, developing a sense of living together as a society, and empowerment of women. The operations conducted within the Foundation’s reach support the access of the children to education, by discovering the talents of children and youth.
Genc Hayat Foundation cooperates with; Ministry of Labour and Social Security on prevention of child labour, Ministry of Youth and Sports on research on sports and youth, Ministry of Family and Social Policies on employment of young women in vocational high schools, Ministry of Education on lifelong learning and its application in schools. Posing an example to other cooperations, the foundation has been deemed worthy of grants by institutions such as the World Bank, Central Finance and Contracts Unit, Istanbul Development Agency.Genc Hayat Vakfı, which conducts operations with universities, the private sector and non-governmental organisations, also cooperates with local administrations from 27 cities across Turkey.
